Powers Shines on and off the Field - The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week 4.26.14

The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week for April 26, 2014 is junior baseball player Stevie Powers from Benedictine Military School.

So far, this season Stevie has 6-1 pitching record and a 1.43 era.  He has struck out 64 batters in 44 innings. Powers led the Cadets in a 10-0 five inning victory against Bacon County on April 16th. Stevie threw a one-hitter while striking out 13. Powers had a perfect game in his grasp before giving up a single with one out in the top of the 5th inning.

Stevie also played a big role in assisting Mike Caputo, who coordinated a  Leukemia & Lymphoma fundraiser last weekend at Historic Grayson Stadium with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Boy of the Year Tishaun Tucker. Tishaun is   10 years old and attends Georgetown Elementary school. He also has been battling Leukemia. Tishaun was chosen to throw the first pitch out at the Savannah Sand Gnats game on April 19th

Tishaun had to get ready to throw out the first pitch. He did this by spending a day at a Benedictine baseball practice, and Stevie took Tishaun under his wing during practice. He also took the mound with Tishaun when he threw out the first pitch. Stevie did get some help from the entire BC baseball team and coaching staff at practice and at the game. Congratulations Stevie!

Note: You  still can donate and make more days like today possible for other kids with Leukemia at www.savannahmanoftheyear.com
