Last week’s Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week for August 1, 2015 was Savannah Junior Golf Association Matt Warren Girl’s Tournament Winner Sarah Edwards. The Savannah Junior Golf Association’s summer tournament series season-ending Matt Warren Memorial Championship was held on July 28th and 29th at the Savannah Golf Club. Sarah captured the two day 36 hole event by shooting a 172 and was 32 strokes better than her closest competitor. Oh, by the way, Edwards is only 14 years old.
During the 2015 Savannah Junior Golf Association summer series, Sarah did
not lose a match. Edwards won all six events she entered, and she played at the
top Savannah golf courses. Those courses were the Wilmington Island Club,
Savannah Quarters Country Club, Southbridge Golf Club, Savannah Harbor Golf
Club, Crosswinds Golf Course, and the Savannah Golf Club.
Last summer, Sarah entered the Drive, Chip, and Putt National Competition and just
finished out of the top two players in her age group. The two golfers went on
to play the finals of the Drive, Chip, and Putt competition at the Masters Golf
Tournament in Augusta last April. As of this article, Sarah and her two
sisters, Ella, and Gracie were playing in the national sub-regional of the
Drive, Chip, and Putt competition at the Landings Country Club right after her
appearance on the Karl DeMasi Sports Report.
