The Georgia Sportswriters Association All-State Team was announced at the end of March. I guess it is better late then never to acknowledge the local Savannah Area Prep basketball players that earned this honor.
From the boys all state team. We only had two honorable mentions from Class "A". They are senior Cody Padgett from Calvary Day and senior Josh Sparks from Savannah Christian. It’s hard to believe nobody from Savannah High and Groves got mentioned.
The girls faired a little better. From Class "AAAAA” Monique Willis a senior from Beach was named to the second team. In Class "A" senior Katie Covington from Calvary Day was on the first team and two Savannah Country Day seniors were named to the second team, Katherine Dotson and Melissa Burkhamer. It’s great to be recognized for their hard work and outstanding play on the hardwood all year and in their careers.
