Join our new team Coaches for Curing Cancer

H.V. Jenkins High School's Head Football Coach/Athletic Director Tim Adams is taking the ball and running with it to battle a very strong opponent cancer. The Coaches for Curing Cancer is Coach Adam's game plan for battling cancer. It is a great event for local coaches and the community to come together as a team to fight this deadly disease that touches all of us one way or another. The first half of Coach Adams's plan is a coach's football clinic on  May 15th and May 16th and the second half is a Dinner Gala following the clinic on Saturday night.

A lot of local-area high school coaches and college coaches are taking part in the coach's clinic, so they will be able to help out with a great cause while discussing the x's and o's of the game of football, which will benefit our football players now and in the future.  The community can participate by coming to the Dinner Gala on Saturday night May 16th for a fun night with a seated dinner, special guest speaker, live music, and silent auction. If you cannot make the clinic or dinner gala, you can become a corporate sponsor, or you can make a general donation to help go to the cause by visiting the Coaches for Curing Cancer website at http://www.coachesforcuringcancer.org/ and join the team, Coaches for Curing Cancer​!

The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week - Scheldon Paulk 4.25.15

Scheldon Paulk - senior - Coastal Hurricanes Baseball

Scheldon Paulk has been a baseball player for the Coastal Homeschool Athletics Association Hurricane baseball team for three years. Paulk this season is 4-2 and has an earned run average (era) of  0.88.  Scheldon as a hitter has a batting average of .371 on the season.

Paulk is the leading pitcher in the Hurricanes short baseball program. As a sophomore, Scheldon pitched 40 2/3 innings and struck out 57 opponents. Paulk era was an amazing 0.69 era. Scheldon missed his junior season because of injury but this season, he has been a rock. Paulk statistics are he has pitched 39 2/3, only has given up five earned runs for an era of 0.88 and has an career era 0.79 with 193 strikeouts in 138 innings pitched. As of today the Coastal Hurricanes baseball team is 10-6.

The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week - Bri Carney Savannah Country Day

This week's Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week is Bri Carney a senior soccer player from Savannah Country Day. 

In only 11 games since joining the soccer team after the  Savannah Country Day state quarterfinal basketball team playoff run.  Bri has scored 22 goals and has 10 assists.  Last week against rival Calvary Day School Carney scored 5 goals leading her team to a 8-4 win. This is the second time that Bri has scored five goals in a game. The first time was in her second game back on March 5 against Atkinson County High School. 

Carney has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her soccer career at ACC soccer power Wake Forest. Carney was the Savannah Morning News Best of Preps Girls Soccer player of the year last year. The following was already posted on her bio page from Wake Forest. Congrats Bri!

Named the All-Greater Savannah Girls Soccer Player of the Year ... Totaled 25 goals and seven assists her junior season to lead the Hornets to the Class A state tournament semifinals ... Member of the 2012 Region III Pool ... Also a standout on the basketball court, earning four varsity letters in both hoops and soccer ... Named her high school team's MVP her sophomore and junior seasons.

This Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week is Tyler Lee 04.11.15

Tyler Lee – senior - Islands High School Soccer

Tyler Lee is a two-time Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week from Islands High School Soccer program. Lee was on the show on March 22, 2014 and had just scored his 62nd goal. I asked Tyler if he had a personal goal he said, “To score 100 goals in his high school career.”

Well a little more than a year later  March 30, 2015 Tyler scored five goals against AE Beach High School to notch his 100th career goal.  Since Lee’s unbelievable achievement, he has scored seven goals in the last four games to give him a career total of 107 goals. Lee still has three region playoff games to play as well as the GHSA state soccer playoffs to raise that total even higher.

Besides scoring goals to date, Tyler has 78 assists so we can say he also has the knack to see the open man in the game. “I get as much satisfaction when a teammate scores as well as when I do," said Tyler. “Tyler is a hard worker, and he is unselfish. It has always been team first. I have watched him grow over the last four seasons, and he is the best player I have ever coached,” said Head Soccer Coach Dante Casagrande of Islands High School. Tyler recently  has committed to an athletic scholarship to continue his soccer career at the next level at Newberry College. Congratulations Tyler on being this week’s Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week.
