Four local former Prep Savannah baseball
players have started the 2017 on positive notes. South Effingham High School
alumni Josh Reddick enters his eighth year in Major League Baseball with the
Houston Astros. In the first seven games, Josh is batting .278. In the minor leagues, three former Calvary Day School Cavaliers had success on the mound. Two notching the win. In A ball, Ryan Lawlor (1-0) pitching for the Rome Braves, got the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless, two-hit relief and striking out three.
On the High A level, for the St. Lucie Mets, relief pitcher, Tyler Bashlor (1-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief while striking out four batters. In a loss for the Lynchburg Hillcats (Cleveland Indians) Dom DeMasi pitched two innings striking out two and holding the 1-0 lead. The Hillcats went on and lost the game 2-1.
