Mackenzie Stewart, senior, a 4'
9" placekicker in football/middle defender in soccer, has
turned peoples' heads on the football and soccer field.
As a placekicker on the Effingham County High School Football team, she converted 25 of 30 extra points, and booted a 29-yard field goal to win a game against Richmond Hill. On the soccer field, she anchors one of the top defenses in girl's soccer in the area. Stewart has also scored a goal and assisted on five. An article written in the Savannah Morning news on March 2, 2017 by Donald Heath had a quote from Head Coach Blake Kessler had this to say, “She’s immensely passionate about winning, very driven,” he said. “She takes everything seriously. She’s a leader in practice, a leader on the field, and she’s very good at keeping others motivated.” The Lady Rebels have advanced to the sweet sixteen of, the GHSA 2017 state soccer playoffs as of this post. You can listen to Mackenzie's podcast at The Karl DeMasi Sports Report podcast page.
