The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week # 2- St. Vincent's Academy junior Track & Field Athlete Taylor DeLoach 5.16.2015
Junior Taylor DeLoach defended her three-state
titles from last year in the Long Jump, 100-meter dash, and the 200-meter dash at
the Georgia High School Association's Class AA track meet last weekend, May
7-9. Taylor won the long jump with a state
record leap of 19 feet 111/2 inches, won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.80
seconds which is her best and set
another state record in the 200-meter dash race with a time of 24.39 seconds.
DeLoach now has made a very impressive
collection of winner’s medals over her three-year participation at the GHSA
state track meets. Taylor has won six gold medals, two in the long jump, two in
the 100-meter dash, and two in the 200-meter dash and that’s in her sophomore
and junior track seasons. Add in her freshman medals, a silver medal in the
long jump and a bronze in the 200 meter her medal winning is getting bigger and
bigger, and she still has her senior year left at St. Vincent’s.
Besides
all these medals, Taylor is receiving a lot of
interest from some of the top college programs in the country. Which are all
over the country from the west coast's Pac-12 top Track & Field programs to
the east coast teams in the SEC and ACC. It is going to be a big signing
party when Taylor decides where she will be taking her track & field
talents at the next level.
